Pro-life poems for reflection

One of our members, Wanda Woodhouse, just shared these two poems she wrote. She explains that this first poem was inspired while praying the rosary. It was fully completed on September 8th, the day the Catholic Church celebrates the birthday of Mary, Jesus’  mother.

“To my dear mother”

I was your child,

Formed in the beauty and likeness of God,

But in your despair,

You turned to others for answers you sought.

The best thing to do they said,

Was to get rid of the intrusion,

What was the best solution.

But I cried, “No, no, please save me,

For I am your little angel,

Just like the Little One born in  a manger,

Given to you for love,

Please do not put me in this danger.”

Now, my dear mother,

I pray for from up above,

That someday you will ask Jesus’ forgiveness,

So that we can be united in love.

I shall be waiting for you till that time,

To give you kisses and hugs,

Never to be parted anymore,

I shall always be your precious angel,

To love and cherish forevermore.

Wanda also composed a poem to the fathers from the children that have been aborted. It was completed on February 28, 2001

“To my dear father”

I was your child,

Formed in the beauty and likeness of God,

But in your despair,

You turned to others for answers you sought.

The best thing to do they said,

Was to seek an abortion,

To set her body free,

From this fetus, that had become an absorption.

But I cried “Please save me, Daddy,

For I am your little angel,

I will always love you with all my heart,

And want to be your sweet little baby,

To love, to kiss, and to hold and never be torn apart.”

Now, my dear father,

I pray for you from up above,

That someday you will ask Jesus’ forgiveness,

So that we can be united in love.

I shall be waiting for you till that time,

To give you kisses and hugs,

Never to be parted anymore,

I shall always be your precious angel,

To love and cherish forevermore.
