The horrors of Abortion are enormous, and to back this up are some facts on abortion; what it is, how it is done, and the effects on mother and child.
WHAT EXACTLY IS ABORTION?
Abortion is causing death to a fetus (young one) either by killing it directly or by causing its expulsion from the womb before it is able to survive independently
The mouth (cervix) of the womb is stretched open. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-like top) is inserted into the womb. A strong suction (40 times that of a vacuum cleaner) tears the body into pieces, drawing it into a container. This is the most common method of abortion. Great care must be used to prevent the womb from being damaged. Common concerns are: failing to remove the entire body of the child thus causing major infection, accidentally puncturing another organ such as the liver, kidney’s or bowels. And last but not least leaving scar tissue on the inside of the womb which can cause difficulty in conceiving a child at a later date and sometimes even cause infertility.
ABORTION METHODS ** Most Canadian abortions are surgical**
Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
This is similar to the suction method, except for the use of sharp loop-shaped knife (curette). The knife cuts the baby apart. The pieces are then removed through the cervix.
Dilation and Evacuation
The cervix is stretched open. The opening must be larger than for a suction aspiration. Specially designed tools are used to dismember the body of the baby and to crush the baby’s skull. No fetal anesthetic is used. All of the dissected and crushed parts of the baby’s body are removed using ring forceps. This method is used up to 18 weeks gestation.
Though outlawed in some countries because of its risk to the mother, this procedure is used in Canada after the fourth month of pregnancy. A concentrated salt solution is injected into the sac surrounding the baby. The baby inhales and swallows the solution, has convulsions, and dies one to two hours later from salt poisoning dehydration and hemorrhages of internal organs. The mother goes into labour. A dead or dying baby is delivered within 48 hours. Abortion is legal up to and including birth in Canada.
Prostaglandin’s are hormones that induce labour. They are injected into the sac surrounding the baby or given in a shot or vaginal suppository form. The mother then goes into labour, giving birth to a child either dead or too young to survive. Sometimes poisonous salts are injected with the prostaglandin’s to kill the baby.
Like a caesarean section, the abdomen and the womb are opened surgically. In the hysterectomy, however, the baby who is lifted out is usually too young to survive without immediate medical treatment. The baby is simply put aside to die.
IMMEDIATE COMPLICATIONS FROM ABORTION
Due to blood loss, patient may need transfusions.
Because parts of the baby may be left inside of the uterus or because of the lack of sterile conditions in the operating room, tubule infection with subsequent sterility can occur.
Instruments used to stretch open the cervix during an abortion procedure can damage it. Miscarriage and premature delivery of future pregnancies may result.
Perforation of the Uterus
The curette can puncture the uterus. This cause peritonitis and can necessitate removal of the uterus, making a woman unable to have children.
Perforation of the Bowel
Punctures in the bowel can result from the use of abortion instruments, requiring a bowel resection. (Repair)
DELAYED COMPLICATIONS FROM ABORTION
Stillborn and Handicapped Babies
Women with RH_negative blood who fail to receive RHO_gam after the abortion procedure may be isoimmunized, endangering some future pregnancies.
Women who have had abortions experience miscarriages at a 35% higher rate.
After multiple abortions, the risk of delivering a premature baby doubles and in some cases even triples.
In this pregnancy, the baby develops in the mothers fallopian tube, rather than in the uterus. It is a condition that significantly increases the risk of death to the mother.
For years medical studies and publications have shown that there may be a link between breast cancer and abortion; this is now a proven fact. Dr. Joel Brind has had his research published in the New England Medical Journal and the facts can not be denied. Research around the world shows that a woman’s first full pregnancy causes hormonal changes which permanently alter the structure of the breast. The completed process greatly reduces the risk of breast cancer. A premature termination of a first pregnancy interrupts this process. The breast cells are left suspended in a transitional state. Cells in this state face an exceptionally high risk of becoming cancerous. This stands to be true in pregnancies other than your first with slightly decreased risks.
